PETALING JAYA: Perikatan Nasional has urged Indian voters in Johor to back the coalition’s candidates tomorrow, saying their support should be based on capability, integrity, and commitment to serving the people rather than race.
PN chairman Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said the Indian community has made significant contributions to Johor and Malaysia across various sectors, including plantations, industries, education, healthcare, engineering, business, and the civil service.
These contributions should not merely be remembered as part of history, but be reflected through better opportunities in the future, the PAS vice-president said.
“The Indian community in Johor and Malaysia has contributed tremendously to the development of the state and the country. They have always been part of Malaysia’s strength,” he said in a Facebook video.
Samsuri said PN believes every Malaysian deserves fair treatment, and appealed to Indian voters to support the Malaysian Indian People’s Party’s (MIPP) candidates in tomorrow’s state election.
“PN does not seek support based on race. We seek support based on capability, integrity, and commitment to serving the people.
“With humility, I seek the support and trust of the Indian community in Johor to vote for PN’s MIPP candidates in this election.
“Let us move forward together for the future of our children and for a Malaysia that is more peaceful, more prosperous, and has greater integrity,” said Samsuri, who is also the Terengganu menteri besar.
MIPP is making its electoral debut under the PN banner in the Johor state election, contesting five seats.
The party is fielding M Lina Manoh in Bukit Permai, D Jeevakumar in Paloh, S Anna Pravina in Kota Iskandar, Dr A Ariventharan in Pemanis, and T Vela in Permas.
