PETALING JAYA: A 21-year-old woman has been charged in the Kuala Lumpur magistrates’ court over a collision on the Setiawangsa-Pantai Expressway that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist taking shelter from the rain.
Kuala Lumpur traffic police chief Zamzuri Isa said the woman was released on RM1,500 bail with one surety on Friday and her driving licence has been suspended until the case is over.
He did not specify the details of the charge, the New Straits Times reported.
The accident took place at about 4.40pm on Thursday, when the vehicle went out of control during heavy rain before crashing into the left road shoulder, hitting two motorcyclists sheltering from the rain.
The impact threw one of the riders, 31-year-old Shafeeq Hashim, over the edge of the flyover, causing him to fall 30m to the ground. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
