TANGKAK, June 27 — The Tangkak state constituency will see a straight fight between candidates from Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the Johor state election, scheduled for July 11.
The contest was announced by Tangkak election returning officer Ungku Suzana Ungku Mohammad at the nomination centre, Dewan Jubli Intan Sultan Ibrahim here, after the nomination process closed at 10 am.
BN is fielding Datuk How Chin Teck, while his challenger is the seat’s two-term incumbent Ee Chin Li from PH.
Earlier, How submitted his nomination papers at 9.04 am, followed three minutes later by Ee.
The Election Commission (EC) has set polling day for July 11, with early voting scheduled for July 7.
According to EC statistics, this election involves 2,727,926 registered voters, comprising 2,703,175 ordinary voters, 12,041 military personnel and their spouses, and 12,710 police officers and their spouses.
