With much of Europe engulfed in its second heat wave since the start of the summer, France is being hit particularly hard with temperatures that are expected to surpass 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) in multiple parts of the country by mid-week.

The uncharacteristically high temperatures have forced local authorities to implement a number of emergency measures. These include putting emergency services and military forces on wildfire alert, canceling multiple outdoor events, and banning public alcohol consumption to maximize the use of emergency resources toward those who fall ill from the heat.

The heat-related measures have also extended to Disneyland Paris, which just closed down all outdoor attractions until further notice over the risk of heat-related illness to staff and guests.

The theme park has not yet released a public announcement about shutting down rides, but multiple visitors reported closures on June 21. They posted photographs of outdoor attractions such as "Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop" behind a gate on social media.

"After nocturnal shows were trimmed of their fireworks due to fire risks, at the request of the Seine-et-Marne prefecture, as stated in an order, the Paris-area amusement park also announced the temporary closure of several attractions at its resort as a precautionary measure against the heat," SortirAParis reported.

Some of the rides that have been closed since the start of the week include "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril" and "Dumbo the Flying Elephant" in the main Disneyland park and "Cars Road Trip" and "The Flying Carpets" in the recently-expanded Disney Adventure World.

Both parks have rides and attractions located fully within air-conditioned buildings, but all Disney park designs encourage guests to go in and out of buildings and wander in the large, open spaces between rides.

Which rides at Disneyland Paris are closed in June due to high heat?

The ability to experience Disneyland Paris to the fullest remains highly restricted by the ongoing bout of extreme heat.

With these temperatures expected to last throughout the week, the theme park may also take further measures to the point of potentially closing entirely.

Although Orlando is better equipped to deal with high temperatures due to its omnipresent air conditioning, Disney World had to make its own weather-related closures when an uncharacteristic cold blast swept through Orlando at the start of 2026.

When temperatures over the weekend of Jan. 31 fell to the low 20s (-6°C), Disney kept water park Typhoon Lagoon closed for three days before the weather returned to what is more typical of Florida during that time of the year.

Orlando is currently also under a heat advisory, with temperatures expected to exceed 111°F (43.8°C) on June 23. No Disney World ride closures have been announced yet.
