PETALING JAYA: Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) has named former MTD Capital CEO Azmil Khalid as its new non-independent non-executive chairman.
In a statement, MAHB said Azmil’s appointment takes effect today.
He succeeds Nungsari Ahmad Radhi, who stepped down after more than two years as chairman following his appointment as a director on the board of Khazanah Nasional Bhd.
“Azmil brings to Malaysia Airports a distinguished career spanning over three decades in corporate leadership, infrastructure development, and international business,” MAHB said.
Azmil has served as president and CEO of both the AlloyMtd Group and ANIH Bhd from 2011 to 2017.
He is currently the group chairman of AFA Group and serves as the president and CEO of AFK Group. He is also the chairman of UEM Edgenta, as well as several other entities, including Sapura Industrial Bhd.
MAHB thanked Nungsari for his contributions, noting that the airport operator underwent a landmark privatisation exercise during his tenure and notched critical operational and structural milestones during its post-privatisation transformation period.
This included driving pivotal capital projects and spearheading key terminal expansion initiatives across the network, including at the Penang and Kota Kinabalu International Airports, it said.
“As a distinguished economist, Nungsari brought an invaluable perspective during his tenure, balancing between the group’s commercial focus post-privatisation and its national duty to manage Malaysia’s vital aviation infrastructure.”
MAHB also announced that Izani Ghani’s tenure as its managing director had been extended for another two years, effective Aug 1.
