Pioneer Insurance & Surety Corporation has partnered with Gogolook, the developer of the global anti-scam application Whoscall, becoming the first insurance company in the Philippines to adopt Whoscall’s Verified Business Number (VBN) service across its business lines.
With the growing number of scam calls, Whoscall’s VBN service will help Pioneer, particularly its policyholders, identify verified calls from the company.
This comes as data from the Whoscall 2025 Philippines Scam Report showed that there were 477,302 scam calls recorded in the Philippines in 2025.
The two companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for a landmark collaboration in the Philippine business sector, extending customer protection beyond traditional insurance into a safer, real-time digital environment. Through the partnership, customers will be better protected from scams and will be able to easily identify verified communications from Pioneer Insurance.
“It is a bright and promising day as two leaders from insurance and tech industries come together to strengthen customer protection from digital scams and reinforce the credibility of legitimate businesses like ours,” said Jo-I Kapunan, First Vice President and A&H Retail Head, Pioneer Insurance. “Not all unknown calls are scams, yet scammers have made it increasingly difficult for trustworthy companies to reach the people we serve. Through Whoscall, we intend to reclaim the phone call as a channel that enables trusted, secure, and meaningful connections with our customers.”
With more than 60 percent of users declining calls from unknown numbers, Whoscall’s VBN aims to reduce missed legitimate communications while preventing impersonation scams targeting policyholders.
Cielo Lontok, Head of uBe Rhino, Pioneer’s joint venture BPO company with Hollard, emphasized how Gogolook, the world’s leading TrustTech company, can help strengthen trust in telemarketing and make life, accident, health, and property insurance even more accessible to Filipinos nationwide.
“Through the Whoscall app, we aim to create safer, more transparent, and more trustworthy interactions, especially as our uBe Rhino telemarketing team connects with customers to share how Pioneer can support their insurance needs,” said Lontok. “We look forward to a strong and meaningful partnership ahead.”
“As scams grow more sophisticated, consumers and businesses both need tools that verify legitimate interactions,” said Manwoo Joo,COO of Gogolook. “Through this partnership, Whoscall’s AI-driven detection and verification capabilities will support Pioneer Insurance in protecting its customers.”
“In today’s digital landscape, building trust is essential,” said Mel Migriño, Country Head and GM of Gogolook Philippines. “Together with Pioneer Insurance, we are empowering Filipinos to instantly recognize verified communications and avoid scams.”
The partnership will also drive the adoption of the Whoscall app among Pioneer policyholders, helping expand Whoscall’s community-powered intelligence network that covers more than 1.6 billion phone numbers across the region.
Pioneer Insurance policyholders and mobile users can download Whoscall via Google Play Store and Apple App Store for caller identification, scam detection, and other digital safety features. For more info, visit https://whoscall.com/en.
