MANILA, Philippines – Thousands of Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) members filled parts of EDSA around the People Power Monument the entire day on June 30, rallying for Senator Rodante Marcoleta, who is under investigation for plunder.

The rally started early Tuesday morning, causing heavy traffic along EDSA, and continued through the night. Among those who spoke before the crowd were senators Alan Peter Cayetano and Imee Marcos, Batangas 1st District Representative Leandro Leviste, former House representative Mike Defensor, former press secretary Trixie Cruz Angeles.

The crowd repeatedly called out the supposed “selective justice” of the Marcos administration in its corruption crackdown. INC members wore white shirts with prints of “transparency for a better democracy.” Some INC members spent the night in the area.

Marcoleta is facing possible arrest over P75 million in campaign donations he accepted when he was still congressman, which he did not include in his Statement of Contribution and Expenditures and in his 2025 Statement of Assets Liabilities and Net Worth.

Quezon City police estimated more than 15,000 attendees as of 9 pm on Tuesday. – Rappler.com
