When Gerodias Suchianco Estrella (GSE) Law was established in January 2006 by Raul Gerodias, Dimples Suchianco, and Toby Estrella, its founders shared a simple conviction that the practice of law is, above all, built on trust.

Twenty years later, that principle continues to define the firm.

Over the past two decades, GSE Law has grown alongside an evolving legal and business landscape. It has navigated economic shifts, sweeping regulatory changes, technological transformation, and a global pandemic while remaining anchored on the values that have guided it from the beginning — integrity, commitment, and excellence.

Those principles have shaped not only the firm’s legal practice but also the relationships it has cultivated with clients, business partners, and the wider community. More than legal expertise, GSE Law has built its reputation on credibility, reliability, and a steadfast commitment to serving others.

On June 25, 2026, GSE Law celebrated its 20th anniversary with an evening reception at Edsa Shangri-La, Manila, bringing together clients, colleagues, partners, and friends to commemorate two decades of shared milestones and enduring partnerships.

The celebration looked back on the firm’s journey from a modest practice established by three founding partners into one of the country’s respected full-service law firms. More importantly, it celebrated the people and relationships that have shaped its story.

Reflecting on the firm’s vision, founding partner Raul Gerodias shared: “Our goal has never been to be the biggest law firm. Our goal is to be the most respected, the most trustworthy, and the most helpful. At the same time, we aspire to be the friendliest and safest place to work — a place where people can grow, thrive, and do their best work.”

Founding partner Dimples Suchianco recalled the firm’s steady growth over two decades.

“We started in 2006 with just three partners and seven associates,” she said, “Today, the Firm has grown to 18 partners, 35 associates, and two special counsels. We are a team of over 100 lawyers and staff — a testament to two decades of steady growth, shared commitment, and the continued confidence our clients place in us.”

For founding partner Toby Estrella, the anniversary was ultimately about gratitude. “Thank you for the trust, support, and opportunities you have given us through the years. You have been with us during important milestones and challenges alike. Your confidence in our Firm has helped shape who we are today.”

The reception concluded in the same spirit that defined the anniversary year: gratitude — for the trust reposed in the firm, the partnerships forged over the years, and the people whose support made its journey possible.

Purpose beyond practice

Rather than limiting the celebration to a single evening, GSE Law marked its 20th anniversary through a year-long series of initiatives that reflected the values at the heart of the organization.

The anniversary celebration began in September 2025 with Kaanib sa Misyon, a community outreach initiative inspired by the belief that the practice of law is ultimately a profession of service.

Working alongside Fresh Hope for Families, CCT Paglingap Foundation Inc., and Wholistic Transformation Resource Center (WTRC), the firm brought legal, medical, and dental services to the Ayta community and students of Sitio Target Integrated School in Angeles, Pampanga.

More than an outreach activity, the initiative underscored the human dimension of legal practice — recognizing that behind every legal issue is a person seeking dignity, opportunity, and hope.

The program was later recognized with the Gold Award for Community Impact and Civic Engagement by the American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines.

The firm subsequently returned to the community to turn over a newly completed kitchen and laboratory facility, together with solar-powered streetlights—projects intended to create lasting benefits for future generations.

Balik-GSE: A homecoming

In January 2026, GSE Law gathered its lawyers and professional staff for a thanksgiving and recognition celebration.

The occasion honored long-serving members of the firm for their loyalty and dedication while providing an opportunity for reflection on the lessons learned, challenges overcome, and aspirations that continue to guide the organization.

A symbolic ceremony, where members wrote their hopes on lantern-shaped cards and placed them on a shared canvas of stars, reflected a collective vision for the firm’s future — one defined by optimism, purpose, and shared commitment.

Later that month, current and former members reunited for Balik-GSE, a homecoming that celebrated the relationships formed throughout the firm’s history.

The gathering highlighted a defining aspect of GSE Law’s culture: that beyond professional achievement, the firm has fostered a close-knit community we fondly call the GSE Family, whose members remain connected long after their time in the organization.

For many, the reunion was a reminder that GSE Law’s legacy is measured not only by the cases it has handled or the clients it has served, but by the people who have shaped its culture and strengthened its values over the years.

As GSE Law enters its third decade, the firm continues to measure success not merely by growth, but by something far more enduring: the trust it has earned, the relationships it has nurtured, the principles it has upheld, and the lives it has touched.

Those remain the foundations upon which GSE Law intends to build the future — continuing a tradition of excellence in legal practice while remaining true to the values that have guided it since 2006. – Rappler.com
