PETALING JAYA: Federal police have arrested 39 wanted persons, including five under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma), in a four-day sting that began on Thursday.
Bukit Aman criminal investigation department chief M Kumar said the other 34 were arrested for violent and property crimes in the joint raid that also involved local authorities and the immigration department.
Kumar said a total of 280 men and 69 women, aged between 20 and 83, were arrested in the sting, dubbed Op Cantas Bersepadu, carried out throughout Selangor.
“Apart from tracking down the ‘wanted persons’, the sting identified and arrested organised crime groups and dismantled their income sources,” he said in a statement.
The suspects are being investigated under the Penal Code, the Immigration Act, the Dangerous Drugs Act, and the Societies Act, among others.
Kumar also said the raids uncovered two illegal entertainment outlets, and 13 premises that employed foreigners without valid passes.
Compound notices were issued to these outlets by the local authorities.
